LUKE HEREFORD
Theatre Maker
Luke Hereford (they/them) is a Queer, Welsh and Wales-based Theatre Maker.
Initially training as a musical theatre performer, I tell stories through an unapolagetically Queer lens, often utilising a celebratory, effervescent aesthetic to engage audiences, led by movement and music and almost always inspired by Queer culture.
Since I started making work in 2016, I have had a number of wonderful opportunities with the likes of Sherman Theatre, The JMK Trust, National Theatre Wales, The Carne Trust and Lincoln Center Theater.
My solo autobiographical cabaret play, GRANDMOTHER'S CLOSET recently completed a critically acclaimed run at Summerhall for Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022, and a sold out run at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff. This was my first credit as a playwright, and marked a return to performing.

The playtext for my debut play "Grandmother's Closet" was published in February 2023, alongside the Cardiff revival, by Aurora Metro Books
